#reverb10 - Day 6 - Make

“December 6 – Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?” (Author: Gretchen Rubin)

Oh Boy! This is easy…I think. LOL

“Keep Your Heart Open”

I’m afraid my photographs do not do them justice, but the last thing I made were these wall decor hangings. One was assembled with an 8” x 10” canvas board that I had previously painted with acrylic black paint. I gathered some decorative paper from Stampin’ Up!’s Romantic collection and I used a Cuttlebug heart die to create flower petals layered on the background with Mod Podge. You can’t tell from the photograph, but I used pop-dots on one layer of petals to give it a raised look. Using stamps from a wacky alphabet collection, I embossed the words, “Keep Your Heart Open.” To wrap it up I created a custom mat using the same decorative paper I’d used to create some of the flower petals and placed it in a lightweight black frame.

The second one was created with watercolored paper, brighter colors, matted and unframed. Both creations brushed with a clear protective coat. They now reside on my Etsy Shop site.

There are many things I’d like to make, but forefront in my mind is a custom-made day planner with a space for quotes, intentions, to-do list, appointments, gratitude’s and acknowledgements to note at the end of the day. I have a basic design sketched out in my journal, but need to sit down and create it on my computer.
